National Trust - Knole House, Sevenoaks, Kent

Dunn AC were instructed by their client to install a complete new heating circuit to the residential Hayloft Flat that dates to circa 850 years old.

Substantial planning was made in order to identify any part of the building that would be disturbed and that had to be preserved.

Once all arrangements were made, a new insulated copper pipe circuit was installed from the existing gas fired boiler at high level and penetrated into the flat from below to feed 10X new radiators and 2X towel rail heaters.

Fire seals were disturbed and repaired by a qualified operative to allow access and controls were made via a new zone valve and room thermostat to allow independent control to this flat who now shares a boiler with an adjacent accommodation. Local thermostatic radiator valves were installed at each radiator to allow even closer control.

Hot works was a major factor to take into consideration and great care and planning was made to allow this hot works to be undertaken safely and under the National Trusts strict rules upon this.

The new circuit was filled, bled and tested and left working well in time for the colder weather.

Full operation and maintenance manuals, test and commissioning certification and user training following the successful completion.
